Rules and Regulations

SCRC tournaments are run under the Robot Fighting League standardized rules and regulations. These are designed to make the tournaments safe, fair and exciting all at the same time.
Before you start having wild fantasies of flying robots that will breathe fire (oh wait that's a dragon), download and read these thoroughly and carefully. It's important that you know all the rules clearly to make your robot building experience as safe and enjoyable as possible.

See below for commonly asked rule questions and any rules differing from the RFL Standardized Rules.

RFL Standard Match Rules

Here are some of the rules I get asked about a lot. These apply to all SCRC organized events.
• Weight bonuses: Shuffler 50%, Walker 100%, Autonomous 50%. (so AutoWalker 150%)*
• No fire or explosive weapons, liquid, radio jamming. Think "bashing."
• AM or "toy radios" are only allowed for non-weaponed bots.
• Your bot must have a visible power light/LED.
• Your bot must have a main power switch or plug that you can power down quickly after a match.
• Your bot must have a visible weapon locking device, which is taken out last, after the bot is powered up.
• Bots must be raised off their wheels or blocked when not in the arena.
• An electronic failsafe is required for all weapons.
• Any spinning weapons must spin down in under 60 seconds.
• A second set of radio crystals is required.
• Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) are allowed provided you wipe down the arena walls and floor after every match.
• Fuel tanks and lines must be armored from all sides.
• And lastly, there is a 1kg weight class named "kilobots".*

*These weights differ from RFL Rules and may not be allowed in other events. Keep that in mind when building.
